Why I Became a Therapist
From an early age, I was a keen observer of others – interested in why people are the way they are – what motivates them, and what brings about change. I love to listen to people’s stories about their lives and experiences, and I’ve always been deeply curious about the dynamics of individuals, relationships and families.
Eventually, this led me to discovering my passion for genealogy and uncovering ancestral family stories and traditions. I love nothing more than delving into family histories and learning about each generation: Who were these people? What made them tick? What challenges did they face? It’s fascinating to me to consider how we – the current generation – are connected to, and shaped by those who came before us.
By doing our own healing work, we can often loosen the grip that the past has on us – that may be a distant past, or it may be ancestral. Either way, through this work, you will gain the power to resolve issues that may be negatively impacting you and move toward a future that is better – more joyful, more content, more peaceful.
I am an intuitive therapist, with a gentle and effective approach to help you do the deep work necessary for lasting change. We will be engaged in therapy together as a collaborative effort; I do not see myself as a “fixer,” because there is nothing about you to fix, but rather to discover.
While I love my work, I am mindful about taking care of myself to keep my life in balance. Things that nourish me include a campfire with friends and family, early morning kayaking, a walk in the woods with my dog. I love reading, and the view of my garden and chickens from my porch swing. I enjoy contra dance, going to art museums, and drumming. I especially love good coffee, and a long morning to talk and laugh with friends.
